Playing well, golf handicap down to 10
Down to 10 now, my lowest handicap yet and playing some nice golf. The new putting technique and process has really helped plus accepting that some days golf will be good and some days not. This has been a major change from my try harder means better results attitude that got in my way for many years. Yes I’ve slipped back to that attitude a couple of times when I was going really well recently and subsequently blown it! But as soon as I get back to investing in the process of making a good stroke, the golf improves. This is a key learning from doing this blog.
Also it has to be a combination of working on the mind and the physical aspects of golf that lead to improvement. I’ve practiced my short game a lot along and listened to the hypnosis recordings, both have helped each other. There have been times where recently I’ve made really good shots under pressure by concentrating on the process of executing a good shot. I’ve holed putts I never would have and thus by making these shots, I feel my confidence improving and am enjoying golf more and more. In the past I would have blamed this and that for poor shots, a car driving by or a bird flying by. But now I know it is up to me really, to control what I can and that’s it. If I make a good stroke then that’s all I can control and whatever happens happens. It’s great knowing that you can choose how to see tricky putt, a chance to miss or a chance to improve.
