April Golf Medal
After letting the golf blog slip a bit so just an update on the first medal of the year played this morning. Played off the blue tees for the first time in a long time and it was tough, those extra yards test me. I was up practicing last night and before the round and it really helped as regards looseness out there. Also after listening to the hypnosis recording over the past 3 weeks, I felt very relaxed out there even after starting with 2 double bogeys. My putting was very rigid over the first few holes but got better as the round went on. My handicap was used up by hole 14 but I parred the next 2 tricky holes and then ended any chance of finishing strongly with a triple bogey on the 17th.
Again, I was trying too hard aiming at a number in my head instead of fully focusing on the shot in hand, I can honestly say I lost the plot for a couple of shots there! I finished with a par on the 18th and a net 75, should be enough to stay in the buffer zone. A disappointing end but I was happy with the way I overcame a poor start and stayed patient. A couple of 3 putts costs me but I also made 2 putts over 10 feet so that kind of balances out. I never got close really of a birdie today, played a lot of long irons and woods so any way of squeezing an extra 10-15 yards would be great. Going to try out a few different drivers this week but really I know working on my core strength is key.
I’ve being thinking of doing pilates as I heard it’s great for the core, that would benefit the running and the golf, just plucking up the courage to do it is the next step. An ok start to the season but still the same issue as last year, I’m still getting in my way. I know now what to focus on the next hypnosis recording, onwards. (Handicap still 11.9)
